Based on the open-EIS technology platform and the comm.kms knowledge management system, community4you develops the technological bases for the integration of planning procedures, project processing and project documentation for industrial projects together with the Chair of Industrial Planning and Manufacturing Faculty at Chemnitz University of Technology.
Challenge
Due to the high demand for industrial planning projects, engineering firms need to maximize project execution and minimize project lead times. A major starting point is the high cost of project documentation. The additional costs that arise from unplanned work and time must be also eliminated.
Solution
As a result of the R&D project "iP³ - Integration of planning procedures, project processing and project documentation for industrial planning projects", a new, future oriented process and a computer-based demonstration model were developed. During the project process, several functions were developed which provide digital support for the planning, projecting and documentation of production plants. A communication function supports the networking of the project participants, and the interface function provides consistent data storage. The classification and similarity determination arranges projects, searches for similarities and manages similarities in hierarchies. All project requirements can be managed and the status of a project's progress can be displayed in a documentation cockpit using documentation control and management. Finally, the last documentation will be generated with the summary of the project results.
The model was verified by converting the information and communication portal into computer prototypes. The validation of the created model was carried out using an sample case study.
